The next group of lads to join us were from all over the UK and Europe! These included the Englishman (Craig Bolton) the Scotsman (Craig ‘broon’ Brown) and the Irishman (Kevin Doherty) from Holland!! We also had two lads from S Yorks, John Siddle and David Mower, two from Essex, Mark Tucknott and Aarron Smart, and two from East Sussex, Robin Martin and his mate John. Finally we
had Richard Turrell fom Cambridgeshire.
Quick out of the blocks this week was Aarron who had a 29.05 mirror early on the Saturday afternoon – the only other fish out on Saturday was a lovely 49.05 mirror to Kevin (Holland). Moulinots newcomer Richard had the only fish out on Sunday, a 27lb mirror. Things really  picked up on the Monday when 2 fifties were caught, the first being a new PB common for Craig ‘broon’ Brown at 54lbs and the next being a new PB for Mark Tucknott , the Cut Tail common at 55.01 (nice to her see her making an appearance) This was followed by a 39lb mirror for Mark and a 27.08 common for Craig. Aaron also had another fish, a 29lb common
10 fish came out on Tuesday – Aarron  had 5 of these at 41.04, 39.12, 29.12, 28.04, and 28lb – a good day for you, Aarron!
Dave Mower had a 42.04 Mirror and his mate John got off the mark with a 27lb mirror – this was a just reward for the lads who had a nightmare trip getting to us when their car engine blew up 8 miles from us..luckily they were saved by a elderly German Good Samaritan couple who towed them to us. Kevin had 2 more fish, mirrors at 40.04 and 33lb, and Robin finally got off the mark with a 32.03 common.
Wednesday brought more fish for Kevin who had 2 at 29lb and 27.04, John Siddle added to his previous days fish with a mirror at 33.02, and Aaron was still catching having a 29.07 mirror.
John had 2 more fish on Thursday, a mirror at 27.12 and a common at 25.02, and Richard Turrell the beat his PB for a Common with  a pristine fish at 36.10. Not to be out done Aarron and Kevin had a fish each at 47.12 and 32lb respectively.
Friday was one of those special days we get here at Moulinots when Aaron had a fish that is not one of the known biggies. I was standing in the lodge swim and could see he was into a fish in the cut swim so I rode round to see if he wanted any assistance as the fish had taken one of his other rods. This turned out to not be a problem and he netted a mirror at 39.06, and then 40 minutes later I saw he was into a fish again and I could see he was having a battle so went round again to see if he was ok..when I got there he had what looked in the net to be a good upper forty common, then the fish righted itself and we couldn’t believe how broad it was across its back! It was well over a foot thick, and when it was weighed it went 58.04!!! I’m sure this will be, all going well,  Moulinots’ first 60 plus common. Well done Aarron on a great weeks fishing, really well deserved. Mark had 2 more fish, mirrors at 46.07 and 22.12, and Kevin finished off the week with a 33lb common. Well done to all the lads who caught and the ones that didn’t, hopefully your luck will be in when we see you next year.

Next to join us at Moulinots were Craig Brown’s group from West Sussex and their 2 friends Graham Renn (Yorkshire) and Andy Sopp (Sussex), and Moulinots new boys, brothers Ian and John Catchpole (London). First off the mark this week was old boy of the group John Brown who had a 35.10 mirror on the Saturday afternoon. John had his best ever week at Moulinots after having 2 difficult previous trips, with a total for the week of 8 fish topped off on the last morning with a stunning 53lb PB Mirror! John’s 6 other fish were mirrors at 43.00, 38.00, 29.07, 28.02 lbs and 2 commons at 42.02 each.  Well deserved John and well done for relieving the younger ones in the group of their money with prize for most fish and biggest fish!  John’s son Craig didn’t have one of his most productive weeks with us, having 4 fish on his own rods – 2 at 33.10, a 26.01 and 24.00. Craig did however have the Dip Back common at 54.14 on Alan Sand’s rods while Alan visited the little boys room and decided to have a chat and bacon sandwich with John on the way back to his swim! Back luck when Alan’s only other fish for the week were mirrors at 27.03 and 33.00lb!! Andy Sopp (Sussex) had a good week with 7 fish which included 2 forties at 47.04 and 40.04, a 32.14 mirror and 4 twenties, well done Andy. Graham Renn (Yorkshire) who was fishing next to Andy had 4 fish, the biggest being a 45lb common with the others being mirrors at 37.04, 28.12, and 22.14. Ian Stevenson had a good week with a pristine 50lb common and 3 thirties at 38.08, 38.00 and 31.05 and 2 twenties. Newbie to Moulinots John “Millwall” Catchpole waited until Wednesday to open his account  – his first fish being a 33lb mirror and the second of the day a lovely 55.12 common. John had 2 more fish in the week, another big common at 49.12 and a small mirror at 24.01. John’s brother Ian also had 4 fish, these being all mirrors at 42.05, 32.05, 29.00 and 24lb.  Mark Longhurst (Sussex) also managed 4 fish with 2 forties at 44.11 and 41.04, a thirty at 38.04 and a 28.05. Justin Jenner, taking the opportunity to fish the lodge swim for the first time in years had 6 fish, the biggest being a 40lb mirror – he also had 2 more mirrors at 29.04 and 28.14 and Justin also had 3 commons at 38.04,and 2 at 26.04. Justin playing a fish in the boat (with a life vest on) was the highlight of the week for me, talk about milking it Justin!!! Last but not least a mention for usual top rod of the group Roy Foster, who after coming out high in the draw opted for the shallower end of the lake hoping the weather would warm up throughout the week but sadly this wasn’t to be..Roy only managed 1 fish, a 28.02 mirror. Better luck Roy later in the year.. want to see you in top form to give Mr Brown junior a run for his money! Total fish for the week was  with an  average weight of 33.07.

Moulinots regulars ‘The Dartford Boys’ x 5 were next to visit along with northen lads Steve ‘Alfie’ Alford and his mate Dean Crust. Also back on their second visit were Nick and Jim Gent and Nick’s friend Damon. First into the fish was Martin Hewett (Dartford) when he caught a 32 lb mirror on the Saturday evening which was quickly followed by a 22 lber for Dean Crust (Middlesbrough), then to finish the first evening off Swell (long cast) had a lovely 43lb mirror. The early hours of Sunday morning turned into the Graham Tree (Dartford) show, with Graham having 4 fish inc 3 commons at 39.00, 34.12, and 29.12, and then these were topped off with a new PB mirror for Graham at 55.00lb. The only other fish out on the Sunday was a 27.00lb mirror for Swell. Monday morning saw the first fish for Phil Gilham (Dartford) who had a nice 37lb common, Graham had 2 more fish at 29,02 and 30.06, Dean also landed another 26.10 common. Martin was back into the fish on Tuesday with a 42lb mirror, Dean then had a new PB 51,04 mirror, and 2 more fish at 24.08 and 32.10. He then thought he would have a little celebration along with Alfie and Martin at Graham’s swim. This turned out to be a big mistake as he had obviously not heard of the Dartford lads drinking reputation! Needless to say Dean didn’t look a pretty sight Wednesday morning (in fact all of Wednesday to be honest!).. You live and learn Dean!!! Swell had another 3 fish on Wednesday morning – commons at 26.00, 26.08 and 47.04, and Alfie got off the mark with a 28.08 mirror. Martin had 2 more fish at 31.12 and 42.00 lb, and Terry W (France) had a 22.04 mirror. Martin then landed 4 more fish on Thursday inbetween socialising with Graham and Wendy (she doesn’t need too much encouragement Martin and Graham where wine is concerned! Your dinner was nearly going to be late) These were all mirrors at 26.00 ,29.08, 30.08 and 43.00 lb. Damon then landed a PB Mirror at 49.00 lb followed by another fish at 37 lb. Terry had another common at 28.08.
Friday saw Nick and Jim Gent finally get off the mark after a hard week with Nick having 2 fish at 26.10 and 28.04. and Jim (Nick’s dad) not to be outdone had 3 fish – these were mirrors at 27.12 and 32.07 and a common at 25.02. Mel Meredith (Dartford) also got off the mark after a move along the bank a few swims with 2 fish at 29.03 and 36.00. Swell (sharing the same swim) also had another fish, a 36lb mirror. Martin topped up his weeks tally with 2 more fish at 29.10 and 32.08 making his total for the week 11 fish. The only other fish out on Friday were a very welcome 34.02 common for Phil, a 28.00 mirror for Alfie and a 32.10 mirror (caught on the zig) for Terry. Only 2 fish were landed on Saturday morning –  these were to Jim and Nick who had a 26.13 mirror and a 29.07 common respectively.  All in all a good week socially, especially for Wendy on the Dartford Boys’ red wine day! And Dylan our boxer dog has never had so much fuss and scrap bits (courtesy of Mr Hewett both at the table and under it – its going to be a new rule next year ‘no feeding the dog at the table’!!!!) Total fish for the week was 46 with an average weight of 32.13 lbs.  Good result all in all as weather was very hot for time of year with some days being 28 degrees. Look forward to seeing you all later in year.
