After the great success of our first season running Moulinots we were ready for the start of our new season. A great deal of hard work had been completed during the winter months, rebuilding and refurbishing the swims on the lake –  a massive big thank you to all the lads that helped with the swims and other works – it is greatly appreciated by us both.
Right now down to the fishing, our first week consisted of only 2 anglers who had traveled to us from Norfolk, they were James Lamb and Neal Miller. I thought they might struggle with only 2 of them fishing but they decided to fish near each other on the Social corner/ backside of the lake. Neal was quickly into fish and landed the first carp of the season, a lovely 32.12 linear, and then he then had 3 more fish on Sunday, 26.08m, 29lbc, and a 25.06m. He then managed to beat his previous PB in the early hours of Monday when he landed a lovely looking 48lb Mirror! James also got off the mark when he had a 29.10m on Monday morning, and this was followed early on Tuesday morning by a 36.11m. With the weather turning a lot colder over the night (down to -1/2) the fish seemed to turn off again until the Wednesday afternoon/evening when James had the last of his fish for the week a 24.08 mirror. Neal also caught a mid 20 mirror on the Wednesday. The weather was still cold on the Thursday afternoon and into the night, when Neal managed to break his PB again when he landed an impressive Common weighing 58.15. This is obviously a known fish to us and we are very pleased it came out at its biggest ever weight this early in the season, this could be due to the very mild winter and we hope the majority of our fish will follow suit and be up in weight.. only time will tell!. Neal managed to catch another 3 fish, all mirrors weighing 23lb, 36.12 and 25.06 – well done Neal on your 10  fish haul, a great result!!. The feedback the 2 lads left us re the overhaul to the swims and other work was all positive which makes all the hard work really worthwhile. Look forward to seeing you lads and the rest of your group next year!
